Open Enrollment for 2020-2021 begins December 16, 2019

My Schools DC operates a common application process for all charter schools in the DC area, including BASIS Washington, D.C. As such, My School DC determines open enrollment dates. Applications for the 2020-2021 will be available when open enrollment begins on December 16, 2019.

What is the difference between BASIS and other charter schools?

BASIS Washington, D.C., and all BASIS Charter Schools, feature a top-ranked stem inspired liberal arts curriculum that inspires students to love learning; to develop a fascination for critical inquiry; to be independent and formulate their own goals; and to graduate prepared for top-tier colleges.

Is there a tuition for the charter schools?

All BASIS Charter Schools are tuition-free.

How do I apply?

Parents/guardians should complete and submit students’ enrollment applications during the Open Enrollment period. Applications submitted after the Open Enrollment period will be processed first-come, first-served behind the applications received during Open Enrollment. You may apply to more than one BASIS charter school, but you must submit separate applications, per student, to each of your preferred schools. All applications must be submitted through the online enrollment portal. Applications need not be signed for entry into the lottery, nor to be considered for acceptance. Applicants who are offered enrollment at BASIS Washington, D.C. will be provided with instructions for accepting the offer, and printing and signing the Registration Packet.

How do the lottery and waitlist work?

At any grade level, if the number of applicants exceeds the number of openings, enrollment is determined by a lottery and waitlist numbers. The Open Enrollment period for BASIS Washington, D.C. is NOT first-come, first-served. Only applications completed during the Open Enrollment period are included in the lottery pool. Applications submitted after the Open Enrollment period has ended will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, behind applications received during the Open Enrollment period.

What documents are needed for registration?

After you have received your acceptance from My School DC, BASIS DC will send you their online registration form that will need to be completed prior to bringing in required documents. The required documents needed at the in-person registration time, consist of medical (including HPV, if needed) and dental forms, medication authorization forms (if needed), child’s birth certificate or passport, registering parent (legal) state identification card, proof of DC residency verification and previous school records.

What are the hours of operation for in-person registration?

In-Person Registration Dates/Hours and Deadlines

The re-enrollment (registration) period will begin on Monday, April 1st and run through Thursday, May 30th.  Re-enrollment will be held Monday – Thursday during the following hours:

Monday and Wednesday, 8:00 am 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm

Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 am – 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm – 5:00 pm

*NOTE:  Re-Enrollment is not available between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm
