Taylor Schuetz joins BASIS Scottsdale Primary West as a seasoned member of the BASIS Charter Schools network dating back to 2013. Her journey with BASIS Charter Schools began at the Flagstaff campus. She helped open the BASIS Prescott campus as the Special Education Coordinator and then moved into the Dean of Student position followed by the role of Director of Student Affairs. In the 2020-21 school year, Ms. Schuetz made the move from BASIS Prescott to BASIS Oro Valley Primary as their Interim Head of School. Through her tenure with BASIS Charter Schools, Ms. Schuetz has witnessed her students grow and flourish when challenged to reach their full potential. She is dedicated to partnering with all school stakeholders to ensure that each student has the opportunity to receive our world-class education and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Ms. Schuetz received her Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Disability Studies from Northern Arizona University. To further develop her leadership competencies, Ms. Schuetz obtained a Master of Education in Instructional School Leadership K-12 with a specialization in Child Psychology.
Adrian Buta joined BASIS Scottsdale Primary West in 2018, as Head of Operations. Mr. Buta comes to BASIS with over 25 years of experience managing manufacturing operations; he spent the last 22 years with an aerospace company in Tempe, Arizona. From Manufacturing Supervisor to Manufacturing Engineer, and ultimately Manufacturing Manager, he brings a vast knowledge in operations, maintenance, and process improvements. In these roles, Mr. Buta was responsible for manufacturing, assembly and maintenance along with managing up to 85 employees.
As Head of Operations, Mr. Buta enjoys working closely with the faculty and staff to enhance the outstanding education, operational support and service to our BSPW families.
Amy Lonberger joined BASIS Scottsdale Primary West in the 2019-20 school year as a first grade Math and Science Teacher. In addition to teaching, she served as the first grade Math and Science Resource Mentor during the 2020-21 school year, providing online lessons and materials to all BASIS Charter Schools’ first grade Math Teachers. During her time as a teacher, Mrs. Lonberger’s purpose and passion was to make learning fun and engaging. Her desire was to create a love of learning in her students that would last a lifetime. Although Mrs. Lonberger will miss being in the classroom, she is looking forward to supporting the wonderful teachers and Dalmatian families in the role as Director of Academic Programs. Her goal is to ensure that all teachers and students have the tools they need to succeed.
Mrs. Lonberger earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services and Management from University of Phoenix and continued on to earn a post-baccalaureate Elementary Teacher Credential. Before moving to Arizona and joining the BASIS family, Mrs. Lonberger served as a Math Teacher and Administrator at a private school in California for over 10 years.
Ms. Slugh graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Science in Family Studies and Human Development and a minor is Psychology. After graduating college, Ms. Slugh always knew she had a passion for teaching and she wanted to help students achieve greatness. Prior to joining BASIS in 2017, Ms. Slugh became a certified teacher in the State of Arizona.
Ms. Slugh started her career at BASIS Chandler Primary North in 2017 as a Learning Expert Teacher, where she taught fourth grade and third grade students. Two years later, Ms. Slugh helped open BASIS Scottsdale Primary West in its inaugural year as the Dean of Students. In this role, Ms. Slugh helped build a safe and positive school and community environment and supported teachers and students along the way. After two years in this role, Ms. Slugh is proud to announce that she will serve as the Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Scottsdale Primary West and is excited to continue supporting her Dalmatian students this school year!
