Abby McCarty

Head of School

Abby McCarty has been with BASIS Prescott since it opened in 2014. Since then she has been a teacher, Dean, and is currently Head of School. Mrs. McCarty has been a part of the Prescott community many years.

Her goal is to keep BASIS Prescott moving in a positive direction and to ensure that students, families, staff, and community benefit from the BASIS Curriculum model for years to come. She believes that BASIS Prescott prepares students for their future and opens a realm of possibility through learning. Mrs. McCarty holds a BS in Ecology and Environmental Biology and a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction.

Marnia Bartelson, Head of Operations

Marnia Bartelson

Head of Operations

Marnia Bartelson, the Head of Operations at BASIS Prescott, served previously as Operations Director and Teaching Fellow at BASIS Scottsdale. Prior to joining BASIS Curriculum Schools, she worked in the Environmental, Health, and Safety division for a petroleum company in the Bakken fields of North Dakota. Ms. Bartelson earned her BA in Liberal Arts and Science from Utah State University and her JD from University of North Dakota School of Law.

Schuetz Taylor

Taylor Schuetz

Director of Student Affairs

Taylor Schuetz has been a member of the BASIS Curriculum family since her first position at BASIS Flagstaff. In 2014, she helped open the BASIS Prescott campus as the Special Education Coordinator. A year later, BASIS Prescott expanded to include primary grades and Ms. Schuetz became the Dean of Students. As the Director of Student Affairs, Ms. Schuetz is looking forward to fostering an encouraging and enriching learning environment for all of BASIS Prescott’s students.

Ms. Schuetz holds a BS in Speech-Language Pathology and Disability Studies, as well as a MEd in Instructional School Leadership K–12 with a specialization in Child Psychology.

Brittany Propp

Director of Academic Programs

Brittany has been in education for over 14 years both domestically and internationally. She has taught in the classroom and at the administrative level in that time across grade levels and subjects. In 2017–18, after two years teaching with BASIS Curriculum Schools, Brittany became the Dean of Students for grades 5–12. She became the Director of Academic Programs the following year. Brittany is a lifelong traveler and learner. Brittany holds a BA in Psychology with minors in Sociology, Anthropology, and Greek/Roman Studies, as well as a Master of Science in Education with both degrees earned at Purdue University.
