Stephanie Terrell is the Head of School for BASIS Phoenix and has been with BASIS Curriculum Schools since 2011, where she helped BASIS Chandler earn national recognition as one of the best public high schools in the nation.
“The combination of all our parts allows for a positive influence in life’s journey.” Mrs. Terrell is a leader, educator, and speaker. Mrs. Terrell earned her BS in Biology from Arizona State University and, prior to joining BASIS Curriculum Schools, had over 10 years of teaching experience in computer applications, all primary subjects, and middle/high school math. Mrs. Terrell was the key administrator for the development of an international business and has been a highly requested public speaker and instructor in leadership development. Mrs. Terrell believes that leadership starts with being a servant, add to that hard work, and finish with perseverance.
As Head of School for BASIS Phoenix, Stephanie Terrell partners with students, parents, and other BASIS Curriculum educators to help young adults prepare for and embrace a life full of opportunity. She is excited to help BASIS Phoenix reach a new level.
Michelle Borie has worked in the BASIS Curriculum Schools network since 2015. She has over fifteen years of experience managing both charter and private schools.
She holds a MEd in Educational Administration and Supervision, a BS in Business Management, a Minor in French, and a Certificate in International Business, all from Arizona State University. Her experience prior to working as a school administrator was in the banking and computer industries.
Matthew Moran is the Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Phoenix. Mr. Moran joins BASIS Phoenix from our BASIS Phoenix Central campus, where he served as Director of Academic Programs. He also helped BASIS Goodyear open its doors in 2015. He has over two decades of experience as a history teacher and administrator working in both New York and his native Arizona. Mr. Moran is an enthusiastic, creative, and passionate educator, mentor, and advisor who believes that all students can learn and thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting, and appropriate to their unique talents and abilities. He has served as Principal, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, IB Coordinator, and History Department Chair. Additionally, he has worked with several curricula: Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and the NY State Regents. He graduated with a BA in Political Science from the State University of New York, College at Buffalo.
Ms. Mumaw joined BASIS Phoenix in its inaugural year, 2012 after earning her Master’s degree in Psychology in Education from ASU. Prior to her role as Director of Academic Programs, Ms. Mumaw served as the Director of Student Affairs, providing academic support to students and assisting them in organization. Her years on campus, as both Dean and Director of Student Affairs (and running the American Sign Language club), has allowed her to get to know BASIS Phoenix students, and she looks forward to working with the students and teachers in her role as Director of Academic Programs.
