Ms. Astwood joined the BASIS Charter School network in 2016 as a Learning Expert Teacher and then Director of Academic Programs at BASIS Scottsdale East before transitioning to Head of School at the BASIS Chandler Primary South Campus in 2018.
Prior to joining BASIS Charter Schools, her professional career was primarily spent within schools in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Ms. Astwood’s passion for education has been shaped over the years as an Elementary Teacher in every grade from kindergarten to sixth, a district curriculum writer, and an assistant principal. Ms. Astwood believes it is her responsibility as an educator to ensure the success of each student and the school by providing the best instructional and academic support possible.
Ms. Astwood’s educational background includes a BS in Psychology from Georgia State University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with a Specialization in Elementary Reading from Nova Southeastern University.
Ms. Namo joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2016 as a Learning Expert Teacher. She then served as a Subject Expert Teacher for both math and science and recently transitioned from her role as Director of Student Affairs–Academics to Head of Operations at BASIS Phoenix South Primary. She earned her BA in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University and taught English Language Learners in the primary grades throughout Chicago, where she spent most of her life. As the Director of Student Affairs–Academics, Ms. Namo is eager to grow BASIS Phoenix South Primary’s positive culture centered on student success.
Mrs. Gengler joined BASIS Phoenix Primary as a Dean of Students in 2018. Before joining BASIS, she assumed different roles such as a Math Interventionist, Resource Teacher, and a General Education classroom teacher for a little over five years, first in a District public school setting, then moving to a Charter school model. Mrs. Gengler really enjoyed working in the classroom and gained valuable experience that has equipped her for her new role as Director of Student Affairs of Academics.
Mrs. Gengler has had the privilege of travelling to different parts of the country to learn from leaders in our country’s education system, primarily in the areas of Literacy and Classroom Management. She implemented these systems into her classroom and mentored other teachers to ensure students were effectively accessing content. One of her biggest accomplishments was being recognized by the Arizona Cardinals as an MVP in the Classroom.
Mrs. Gengler is an advocate for students and believes in working closely with the families to create a partnership that is essential for student success. She believes in the future of each student she has had the privilege of crossing paths with and considers it an honor to come alongside them in order to equip them with the tools they need to go far. Mrs. Gengler is very excited to join the BASIS Phoenix South Campus and looks forward to working closely with our scholars and their families!
Ms. Lindsey Orlowski graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a focus in Science and Math from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Ms. Orlowski began with BASIS in 2016 as an LET at Chandler Primary North during its inaugural year and transitioned to a fourth grade science teacher. She then continued her career at BASIS as Curriculum Coordinator before moving into the role of Director of Academic Programs. Lindsey is involved in data analysis, progress monitoring, and test administration to ensure the success of every student.
