Ms. Astwood joined the BASIS Charter School network in 2016 as a Learning Expert Teacher and then Director of Academic Programs at BASIS Scottsdale East before transitioning to Head of School at the BASIS Chandler Primary South Campus in 2018.
Prior to joining BASIS Charter Schools, her professional career was primarily spent within schools in the Atlanta metropolitan area. Ms. Astwood’s passion for education has been shaped over the years as an Elementary Teacher in every grade from kindergarten to sixth, a district curriculum writer, and an assistant principal. Ms. Astwood believes it is her responsibility as an educator to ensure the success of each student and the school by providing the best instructional and academic support possible.
Ms. Astwood’s educational background includes a BS in Psychology from Georgia State University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning with a Specialization in Elementary Reading from Nova Southeastern University.
Ms. Namo joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2016 as a Learning Expert Teacher. She then served as a Subject Expert Teacher for both math and science and recently transitioned from her role as Director of Student Affairs–Academics to Head of Operations at BASIS Phoenix South Primary. She earned her BA in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University and taught English Language Learners in the primary grades throughout Chicago, where she spent most of her life. As the Director of Student Affairs–Academics, Ms. Namo is eager to grow BASIS Phoenix South Primary’s positive culture centered on student success.
Mr. Harris joined BASIS Charter Schools as the Special Education Assistant at BASIS Phoenix South Primary in January of 2018. After five months in this position, he was promoted to the Special Education Coordinator position, then Dean of Students, and now the Director of Student Affairs of Behavior. Mr. Harris is ecstatic to bring his experience and love for the community, school culture, and the students to this position.
Mr. Harris is from Leesville, South Carolina and a graduate of Benedict College, in Columbia, South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Child and Family Development, with a certification in Special Education Early Childhood. He relocated to Phoenix in January of 2018 from Atlanta, Georgia. He has been in the education field for nine years. His experience ranges from teaching grades Pre-K to high school in the area of special education. Mr. Harris is passionate about serving the BASIS Phoenix South students, families, and community.
