After an extensive corporate career, Mrs. Thompson joined BASIS Curriculum Schools in 2013. Her initial assignment was to open the first BASIS Charter School in San Antonio, Texas. She then moved to the BASIS.ed central office to take on the leadership of Human Resources. She was as the founding Head of School at BASIS Independent Brooklyn and then returned to Arizona where she opened and led the BASIS Chandler Primary – South Campus for two years. Mrs. Thompson joined the BASIS Phoenix Central location as the head of school in June of 2017.
Mrs. Rodriguez joined BASIS Curriculum Schools in 2015, assisting with the opening of BASIS Chandler Primary – South Campus as the Curriculum Coordinator. She continued at that location as the Director of Academic Programs until she transferred to BASIS Phoenix Central as the Head of Operations in 2018. She worked as a teacher’s assistant with inclusion programs in California and at residential facilities in Colorado. She holds a BS degree in Psychology, as well as a minor in Philosophy, from New Mexico State University.
Courtenay has been in the education field for almost two decades as both a classroom teacher and administrator having worked in both private and public schools (national and International Baccalaureate programs) and, now with BASIS, the charter school system. Courtenay joined BASIS in 2014 after moving to the US from New Zealand. After three years and a founding faculty member of BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, she spent the 2017-18 school year as the Director of Student Affairs at the new BASIS Texas Shavano Campus before joining the BASIS Phoenix Central team this year as the Director of Academic Programs.
Kimberly Westberg is the Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Phoenix Central, where she started as the Curriculum Coordinator. Mrs. Westberg has extensive experience working as a supportive leader for diverse populations of youth of all ages. Prior to joining the BASIS family, she worked as a child safety specialist for the state and as a manager for a residential behavioral facility serving at-risk youth. Mrs. Westberg is a proud alumna of the University of Arizona where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.
