Ms. Fields joined the BASIS.ed central office in 2016, first working in the academics division and then quickly joining the school management team where she spent most of the year assisting school leadership. Prior to coming to BASIS Charter Schools, Ms. Fields worked as an Education Program Manager for the Arizona State Charter Board, contracted with Arizona Department of Education as a capacity building coach for schools across Arizona. She spent 10 years teaching and working in school leadership in the charter school setting.
Ms. Fields holds a BA in Elementary Education and an MS in Leadership. She was elected to the School Site Council for Lincoln Elementary in Prescott, AZ, sat on the Task Force for Senate Bill 1197, regarding special education, served as a governing board member for a local nonprofit literacy group, and volunteers in many community organizations and events, such as Girl Scouts and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Mrs. Rodriguez joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2015, assisting with the opening of BASIS Chandler Primary – South Campus as the Curriculum Coordinator. She continued at that location as the Director of Academic Programs until she transferred to BASIS Phoenix Central as the Head of Operations in 2018. She worked as a teacher’s assistant with inclusion programs in California and at residential facilities in Colorado. She holds a BS degree in Psychology, as well as a minor in Philosophy, from New Mexico State University.
Briana Gauthier pursued her interest in education at The University of Arizona, where she graduated with a BS in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and minored in Special Education and Educational Psychology. Almost immediately after graduating, Briana began her BASIS Charter Schools journey. She has held roles as a Teaching Fellow, SPED Coordinator, and Curriculum Coordinator at BASIS Tucson North, Chandler Primary North, and Scottsdale Primary West. Most recently, she worked at the BASIS.ed Central Office as a Special Projects Consultant, supporting all our charter schools through master schedules and BeLA. Briana is also passionate about children’s literacy and has worked hard throughout her career to build libraries in our BASIS Charter School classrooms. As the Director of Academic Programs, she looks forward to supporting the BASIS Phoenix Central community.
Amanda-Marie Black started her journey with BASIS Charter Schools in the 2016–2017 school year as a Teaching Fellow for Kindergarten Engineering and Art at BASIS Goodyear. That same year she moved into the English 5 position as the Subject Expert Teacher. She was promoted to Primary Dean before transferring to BASIS Phoenix Central in 2018. She served as the Dean of Students with BASIS Phoenix Central before becoming the Director of Student Affairs.
Ms. Black enjoys mentoring the students, along with building strong relationships with the teachers, staff and families. She leads by a strong, uplifting, supportive example. Her extensive professional experience within the behavioral health and educational field has allowed her to develop skills that encourage success within people. She believes that a strong community starts with communication and collaboration, and exemplifies this through her actions daily. Ms. Black is a huge proponent for self-love, self-awareness and peace, which are always at the forefront of her teachings and opportunities of mentorship.
Ms. Black holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Literature, Language and Writing, as well as a minor in Journalism, from the University of Kansas.
