Ms. Ramos joined BASIS Charter Schools as the Special Education Coordinator at BASIS Scottsdale and after two very successful and productive years, was promoted to Upper School Director. She took the same role at BASIS Mesa before transitioning to Head of School and successfully expanding the school to kindergarten through grade 12. Prior to her current role as Head of School BASIS Mesa, Ms. Ramos served as Head of School at BASIS Phoenix South Primary. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Special Education and MA in Curriculum and Instruction, while also completing coursework for her second MA in Education Administration.
Katie Cox joined BASIS Mesa in 2014 as a STEM Subject Expert Teacher. She taught math and science for four years, before moving into an administration role as the Dean of Primary in July 2018. She is excited to have now moved on to the Head of Operations role having been our Director of Academic Programs at BASIS Mesa. Katie Cox is a Teach for America alumni, and has a BS in Biochemistry, along with a M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. Katie is deeply invested in the Mesa community and is excited to be growing professionally within a network that shares her passion for education.
Dave Deshler began his BASIS Curriculum career midway through the 2010–11 school year at BASIS Scottsdale as the grade 5 Physical Geography teacher. In subsequent years at that school he added AP Environmental Science and AP Human Geography to his schedule. Since then he helped open and establish BASIS Ahwatukee as the School Director, moved to BASIS Phoenix as Director of Academic Programs, then on to help establish BASIS Scottsdale Primary at its new site in 2016 as Director of Student Affairs – which happens to be in the very same building where he started with BASIS. He served as Head of School at Scottsdale Primary from summer of 2018 until joining BASIS Mesa as Director of Student Affairs in April of 2019.
Christen Wolcott joined BASIS Mesa in 2018. She earned her BA from California Lutheran University, and then went on to earn her MEd in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on literacy instruction, from Northern Arizona University. Christen has taught at the elementary and post-secondary levels for 17 years, and has spent her career fostering a love of learning in her students, as well as mentoring teachers, in the pursuit of academic excellence. Christen is excited to serve as the Director of Academic Programs, and is happy to be a part of the learning community here at BASIS Mesa.
