Jon Hutman joined BASIS Mesa in the fall of 2013. He joined the school’s leadership team as the Director of Academic Programs in 2016. He is beyond excited to serve as the Head of School. Jon is originally from Ohio where he attended Wright State University, earning both a BA and MEd with concentration in science. Jon has spent over a decade teaching science courses at the elementary, middle, and AP levels. He was recognized as the Kyrene School District Teacher of the Year in 2010, as well as the Tempe Diablo’s Excellence in Education Inspirational Teacher of the Year in 2011.
Mrs. Campbell comes to BASIS Mesa from BASIS Chandler Primary – South Campus, as the Head of Operations.
Prior to moving to a BASIS Charter School site, Mrs. Campbell spent two years as an HR Business Partner at the BASIS.ed Central Office. Her current role as Head of Operations is to manage the facility and the operations staff as well as handle HR and benefits issues. She also oversees the Auxiliary Programs and IT staff.
Mrs. Campbell earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from The University of Phoenix and a graduate certificate in Human Resource Management. She spent three years working for TriVita, Inc., a nutraceutical company providing health and wellness to the general public. Her focus was on HR, recruiting, new hire training, orientation, events, benefits and employee support.
Mrs. Campbell enjoys helping and working with others to reach their personal potential and therefore is thriving in the BASIS Curriculum Schools setting. Witnessing the level of teaching and learning is inspiring. As such, she is extremely grateful for the opportunity to support the wonderful teachers, staff, and families at BASIS Mesa.
Katie Cox joined BASIS Mesa in 2014 as a STEM Subject Expert Teacher. She taught math and science for four years, before moving into an administration role as the Dean of Primary in July 2018. She is excited to have now moved on to the Director of Academic Programs where she can share her passion of curriculum and teaching with all students at BASIS Mesa. Katie Cox is a Teach for America alumni, and has a BS in Biochemistry, along with a M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. Katie is deeply invested in the Mesa community and is excited to be growing professionally within a network that shares her passion for education.
Dave Deshler began his BASIS Curriculum career midway through the 2010–11 school year at BASIS Scottsdale as the grade 5 Physical Geography teacher. In subsequent years at that school he added AP Environmental Science and AP Human Geography to his schedule. Since then he helped open and establish BASIS Ahwatukee as the School Director, moved to BASIS Phoenix as Director of Academic Programs, then on to help establish BASIS Scottsdale Primary at its new site in 2016 as Director of Student Affairs – which happens to be in the very same building where he started with BASIS. He served as Head of School at Scottsdale Primary from summer of 2018 until joining BASIS Mesa as Director of Student Affairs in April of 2019.
