Kristen Ramos
Head of School
Ms. Ramos has been a dedicated leader within BASIS Charter Schools since 2012. After two successful years at BASIS Scottsdale as the Special Education Coordinator and Upper School Director, Ms. Ramos took the same role at BASIS Mesa in 2014 before transitioning to Head of School and successfully expanding the school to kindergarten through grade 12. Ms. Ramos shortly left BASIS Mesa for a year and served as Head of School at BASIS Phoenix South Primary. She is very happy to be back “home” at BASIS Mesa now serving the BASIS community for over 9 years. She graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Special Education and MA in Curriculum and Instruction, while also completing coursework for her second MA in Education Administration.
Tyler Williams
Head of Operations
Tyler Williams brings significant depth of experience in management and administration to the Head of Operations role at BASIS Mesa, having transitioned to charter school operations from career pursuits in the construction operations and healthcare administration sectors. Previously, he held positions of Vice President of Administration and Vice President of Construction Operations, so he appreciates the team-oriented environment, the focus on achievement and the high degree of professionalism inherent at BASIS Charter Schools. As the son of a career elementary school teacher, Mr. Williams gained an early appreciation for educators and the rigor with which they pursue their craft. Mr. Williams completed his undergraduate education at Graceland University in Iowa prior to returning to Arizona to begin his career.
Christopher Lester
Director of Academic Programs
Mr. Lester joins the team at BASIS Mesa following seven years of teaching grade 5 Geography and AP Geography at BASIS Scottsdale. In that time, he also served as the grade 5 faculty mentor and the network-wide Subject Advisor for both Geography courses. He is eager to apply his classroom knowledge and leadership experience to support BASIS Mesa students and teachers working through a successful experience in the rigorous BASIS Charter School Curriculum.
Beverly Hackett
Director of Student Affairs
Ms. Hackett joined BASIS Mesa in 2018 as the Dean of Students for grades 5–8. Prior to joining BASIS Charter Schools, she taught math in the public school system for more than 8 years. In her role as the Director of Student Affairs, her goal is to continue to support the students academically, socially, and emotionally while constantly keeping the positive family-like culture here at BASIS Mesa.
Ms. Hackett graduated from the University of Phoenix with a BA in Human Services Business Management and MA in Elementary Education.
Kristen Walker
Director of Primary Programs
Mrs. Kristen Walker is the Director of Primary Programs at BASIS Mesa. Prior to joining BASIS Charter Schools, she worked in both public and charter school settings throughout the East Valley. Mrs. Walker has 16 years of experience teaching grades K–12. She has also served in numerous administrative positions. Mrs. Walker graduated from Northern Arizona University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a master’s degree in Administration and Leadership. She is excited to support both the students and teachers of BASIS Mesa.
