Christen Wolcott joined the BASIS Charter Schools team in 2018 at BASIS Mesa, where she was the K–2 Director of Academic Programs. She continued in this role at BASIS Chandler Primary South in 2020. Christen has also served as the K-4 Director of Academic Programs Subject Admin Mentor, supporting other directors across all schools in the BASIS Charter Schools network.
As an educator and an administrator, Christen has spent her career fostering a love of learning in her students and mentoring teachers in the pursuit of academic excellence. She earned her BA from California Lutheran University, and her MEd in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on literacy instruction, from Northern Arizona University. Christen has taught at the elementary and post-secondary levels for 19 years.
Christen is excited to lead this learning community as the Head of School. She looks forward to continuing to establish connections with families and focusing on a rigorous academic program that prepares students for future success.
Mel is thrilled to join BASIS Chandler Primary South administration as Head of Operations. She worked as a Head of Operations at BASIS Mesa and Director of Operations at BASIS Tucson North before joining us. Mel graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and Business Administration.
Brittania McCarron joined the BASIS Charter Schools network in 2016 as a Dean of Students at BASIS Ahwatukee before transitioning to Director of Student Affairs at BASIS Chandler Primary- South Campus. As Director of Student Affairs, Brittania is excited to grow the school’s positive culture centered around student success.
Prior to joining BASIS Charter Schools, Brittania spent 9 years in the classroom as a Special Education Teacher. She also served as a Mentor Teacher and District Liaison. Brittania earned a BA in Special Education from Arizona State University.
Devin Santillan joined BASIS Charter Schools in 2014 as a third-grade teacher at BASIS Phoenix Central. Ms. Santillan graduated from LeTourneau University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education: Early Childhood – sixth grade and worked for three years as a third-grade elementary school teacher in Texas culminating in 11 years total as a teacher. In 2015 when BASIS Chandler South opened, she was able to transfer and continue as a third-grade teacher while becoming a third- and fourth-grade Subject Advisor. In November of 2021 Ms. Santillan transitioned into the Director of Academic Programs role and has enjoyed every aspect of it!
