This is Roberto Ramirez’s tenth year working for the BASIS Curriculum Schools. He joined the BASIS Tucson faculty in 2008. Since then, he has worked as an AP Spanish Teacher, College Counselor, Upper School Director and Head of School.
During his tenure as Upper School Director at BASIS Tucson and at BASIS Tucson North, both schools were recognized as top 10 schools in America by The Washington Post, U.S. News & World Report and Newsweek. He is very excited to be working with primary students now. Mr. Ramirez would like to instill in his elementary students that learning is not a chore, but an adventure that never ends. Furthermore, he would like to give the BASIS Tucson Primary students the foundation that will help them be successful as they progress through the upper grades at BASIS and on their way to college and beyond.
Mr. Ramirez considers it an honor to be able to provide students and families in this community with the world-class education that characterizes the BASIS Curriculum Schools. He has over ten years of experience in K-12 education and he is passionate about student achievement and making sure that the quality of education that the BASIS Curriculum Schools provide are accessible to all students.
Mr. Akins is entering his Eighth year of employment with BASIS and his 16th year as a member of the BASIS community. Mr. Akins attended BASIS Tucson from the 7th-12th grade and is a proud alumni. He returned as a school monitor while pursuing his Bachelors of Mathematics at the University of Arizona and has enjoyed being a part of and watching the BASIS program grow and accomplish tremendous things over the past seven years. He then served BASIS Tucson Primary as the Facilities Coordinator, Front Office Staff, Late Bird Supervisor, Auxiliary Programs Coordinator, and Substitute Teacher. Mr. Akins served as Head of Operations for the 2015/16 school year at our sister campus BASIS Flagstaff. As much as he enjoyed the cooler weather, amazing staff, and students at BASIS Flagstaff he was more than excited to return to BASIS Tucson Primary as Head of Operations in the summer of 2016.
Everyday Mr. Akins is excited to come and work with some of the most talented and passionate people there are. He is always thrilled to see the tremendous learning that takes place daily at BASIS Tucson Primary and looks forward helping improve our already spectacular school and the world-class education it provides.
