Kristen is going into her 2nd year as the Head of School at Mesa. She started her BASIS.ed career at Scottsdale as the Special Education Coordinator and after two very successful and productive years, was promoted to Upper School Director. She took the same role at BASIS Mesa before transitioning into her current position. Kristen graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction while also completing coursework for her second Master’s degree in Education Administration. Her educational background combined with her belief in the BASIS philosophy makes Kristen uniquely suited for educational leadership at the K-12 level.
Christine started working for BASIS Charter Schools in the fall of 2013 and moved into the role of Head of Operations in February of 2015. Christine moved to Arizona from Maine in the summer of 2013 where she attended college and worked at a local bank. She graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in International Affairs and Political Science.

Education: BA in History with Secondary Education.
Related Experience: I have taught for 15 years in North Carolina, Florida, and Arizona. Additionally, I was Executive Director at Sylvan Learning Centers for six years.
Hobbies/Interests: ASU football, Patriots football, tennis, and participating in adventure runs in my free time.
Jon Hutman is originally from Ohio where he attended Wright State University, earning both a Bachelor and Master of Education degrees with concentration in Science. Jon has spent over a decade teaching Science courses at the elementary, middle, and AP levels. Throughout his tenure, he was recognized as the Kyrene School District Teacher of the Year in 2010 as well as the Tempe Diablo’s Excellence in Education Inspirational Teacher of 2011. Jon merged with BASIS Mesa in the fall of 2013, and in 2016 joined the school’s leadership team as the Director of Academic Programs. In addition to facilitating BASIS Mesa’s academic and cultural growth, Jon also continues to serve the National Aeronautics and Space Agency. Jon has been a Solar Systems Ambassador for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory since 2012, and an OSIRIS-REx mission Ambassador since 2016.
